Here is my sample lesson. The tune is called put me in the box and it's an A major reel. The files are posted below, here is what you will find in each one.

1. Lesson One - A document containing the information about the tune, how to play it, etc.

2. Chord Chart - The basic chords to the tune for anyone wanting to  accompany on guitar, piano or any other instrument

3. Notation - The standard notation for tune. includes 2 ways to play it.

4. Slow - The tune played slowly one time through. The file was too large to repeat the tune. I would repeat it on a CD lesson

5. Medium - A couple of times through at medium speed.

6. Fast - I think you get the picture.

7. Cuts - This is a variation of the tune. More like the way it is played in Cape Breton.

8. Fid/Guit - I included a track of the fiddle and the guitar together.

9. Guitar - This track is just the guitar for you to try to play along after you've got the tune down

I teach fiddle lessons all winter here on Prince Edward Island. I have often thought about making CD's with fiddle lessons on them. Let me explain...

I would record a tune, at say 3 different speeds, very slow, medium and regular speed. I would give tips and tricks for playing the tune. Record and talk about specific grace notes or ornamentations, put this all on a CD, and include the sheet music as well as bowing and other specific notes on the tune.

I have a sample lesson posted here on this page. If you are interested in purchasing a lesson for another tune, please contact me. The price will be $20 Canadian per lesson. Each lesson will include the info you see in the sample lesson and I will answer, by email, any additional questions you might have.
